In this article, we will analyze in detail the settings of the Stat Appearance tab in the HUD of the Hand2Note program. These parameters are not just "cosmetics": they affect how quickly and accurately you read information at the table.

Understanding each option helps you set up the HUD so that it provides maximum useful signals and a minimum of visual noise.

Stat Appearance

  • Show one decimal if stat value is lower than X - shows one decimal digit in statistics for values less than the specified threshold. For example, if the value is 10, a stat with a value of 9.8% will be shown with a fractional part, and not just as 10%. This gives a slightly higher accuracy at low frequencies (VPIP, PFR, etc.), when the difference between 5.0% and 5.8% may be important.
  • Show 99 if stat value equals 100 - instead of "100%", "99%" will be displayed to save space. This replacement visually "compresses" the HUD, making it more compact. This is especially useful if you want to reduce the space allocated for the HUD.
  • Add leading zero to single digit stats - adds a zero before the fractional part if the value is less than 10%. For example, when the option is disabled, 0.5% may be displayed as ".5%", and when enabled - as "0.5%". By enabling this option, you will align the HUD columns to the right edge, which makes the table more accurate.
  • Shortened amounts - reduces large numerical indicators in statistics (number of hands, win rates, sample size). For example, instead of "1500", "1.5K" can be output. This is convenient to save space and simplify the view of large values.

Versus user stat

  • Show vs-user stats - enables the display of "vs-Hero" stats values (values against you). If activated, a similar indicator will be shown next to the statistics against all players when the Hero was at the table (underlined by a line). It is useful when analyzing to immediately see if the frequency of the player's actions against you differs from the general one.
  • Show vs-user stat if vs-user stat sample is higher than X - sets the sampling threshold for showing "vs-Hero" statistics next to the main one. If the number of hands against you is greater than this value, H2N will show the "vs-Hero" number next to the usual statistical value. This prevents unreliable data from being displayed - "vs-Hero" will appear only with a sufficient number of hands.
  • Substitute a stat by its vs-user value if vs-user sample is greater than X - replaces the main statistic value with a "vs-Hero" value if the sample against you exceeds the specified threshold. That is, if you often play with this opponent and a lot of data has been collected, the HUD will directly show his frequency of actions against you instead of the total. This is useful when you want to see specifically how a player acts in your presence.

Sample size

  • Show stat sample in HUD - includes showing the sample size (number of hands) for each statistic in HUD. When enabled, the number of hands it is based on is displayed next to the percentage value of the statistic. This is important to evaluate the reliability of the data: a small sample (for example, 10-20 hands) makes the stat significant with less confidence.
  • Sample font size - sets the font size for the sample number in the HUD. You can choose the size so that the numbers in the HUD are uniform and easy to read. The same font for the selection makes it faster to perceive the sign in the HUD.
  • Sample font color - the font color for the number of statistics being sampled. By default, the selection can be semi-transparent or lighter than the main text. You can set any color to make it more visible or stylize it to match the overall color scheme of the HUD.
  • Show stat sample when it is lower than X - shows the sample number only when it is less than the specified threshold. For example, at a threshold of 15, (15) will be displayed next to the percentage of statistics only if the sample is less than 15. This highlights vague stats, warning you that the value is based on a small number of hands.
  • Make stat transparent if its sample is lower than X - makes the statistics text semi-transparent when the sample is less than the specified value. Together with the previous option, this helps to visually "shade" unreliable data. If the sample is small, the percentage becomes less vivid (for example, 50% more transparent), distracting attention and indicating caution in interpretation.
  • Stat opacity in case of small sample - sets the degree of transparency of the status in case of insufficient data. The value is from 0 (completely invisible) to 1 (completely opaque). For example, at 0.5, statistics with a small sample will be displayed semi-transparent (50% transparency). If you don't want transparency at all, set 1. Then the statistics will always remain clear, regardless of the sample.
  • Show stat sample in parentheses - enables the display of the sample size in parentheses next to the statistic value. In this case, the selection is displayed in the format "(number)". This is a standard way to show the number of hands without mixing it with the main percentage. For example, "12.3% (25)" means 25 hands in the sample. This visualization is often used for compact data representation.
