Hand2Note 4.1 was released over six months ago. The launch of H2N4 essentially marked the beginning of a new era for poker trackers, since Hand2Note 4.1 is the next generation of an already revolutionary piece of software.

In this article, we’ll look at the top six reasons why users of Hand2Note 3 should switch to the new Hand2Note 4.1 right now, and we’ll detail all the important and useful updates it brings.

1. The “Statistics” Tab - formerly “Range Research” in Hand2note3

One of the most important updates in Hand2Note 4.1, in my opinion, involves the tab formerly known as “Range Research.” In the new version of the tracker it’s called “Statistics.”

For many of you, this may seem unnecessary, unimportant, far-off and uninteresting. But I’ll let you in on a secret: almost all the poker schools and stables you’ve heard of (or know about) do a ton of work in the “Statistics” tab. And that’s exactly why this tab is one of the most important features of Hand2Note - and it has also received some updates.

Main differences of the “Statistics” Tab:
⦁ Working with your database is much faster – on a good PC it’s miles ahead of the old version.
⦁ You always see a list of players who match your filter, along with some basic information for each one.
⦁ You have the ability to exclude (ignore) certain players from the list.
⦁ You can quickly sort results by winrate and other standard metrics with ease.
⦁ A simplified algorithm for using expressions was introduced — very convenient for beginners.
⦁ You can add all players from a report into an alias, which allows for easy reuse of that alias without having to repeat the filters.
⦁ The count of players and hands matching your filters updates instantly as you adjust the filters

Additionally, the Statistics tab now features a more intuitive filter system, making it easier to refine your searches:

The way stat values are used in filters has also been made more straightforward:

And now users can even create an alias in just a few clicks:

What the “Statistics” tab can do:
⦁ Find similar players: filter your database to find players with a similar playing style (strategy) and discover their common mistakes.
⦁ GTO filters: filter your database by GTO metrics to identify which of your opponents are working with solvers.
⦁ Bluff analysis: see on which river cards your field bluffs more often, and what bet sizings it use for those bluffs.
⦁ Bet sizing tendencies: check which bet sizings your field calls more frequently, so you can improve the balance of your own betting strategy.

In short, using the “Statistics” tab in Hand2Note 4.1 is like upgrading from a bicycle to an electric scooter. Especially on a good computer - you’ll barely keep up with feeding it new databases! The biggest strengths of Hand2Note 4.1 really come through here: the speed of processing, the ability to see a list of players, create an alias in three clicks, and the simplified stat-value filtering.

My opinion: for a single tab, these updates are more than welcome, and thanks to them alone it’s worth switching to Hand2Note 4.1. And guess what — we still have 5 more reasons ahead!

2. Ability to Delete Unused Stats

Finally, they did it. Hand2Note 4.1 now has the ability to delete entire profiles containing unused stats (including expression stats) in just a few clicks.

In Hand2Note 3, there was an option to delete unused stats, but if those stats were hiding in inactive popups, they wouldn’t actually get removed. To clean up, you had to delete HUD/Popup/Composite Stat profiles either manually from the folders or one profile at a time, which made the process tedious and slow.

In Hand2Note 4.1, you simply choose what you need to delete and it’s gone – no hassle. This is definitely a big plus, especially for those who love to purchase lots of different HUD packages and keep everything in one config.

Tip: Before deleting anything, it’s best to make a backup of your config (so you can sleep easy and won’t have to run to support later asking “How do I get my old config back?”) To do that, click Configuration → Export Config, then choose a folder and file name.

This way, you’ll have all your settings and current configuration saved, and in the future you can restore it with all your profiles and stats intact. Deleting profiles and stats is now straightforward and quick:

This feature is especially useful if all your stats are built for your database and you only use one profile. Before you start building new stats, be sure to check if you have any unnecessary profiles you’re not using — simply save those configs separately and then delete them from your main setup.

3. The “Mining” Section

In poker, “mining” refers to hand histories played in a poker room that are collected via special software. These hand histories can be purchased and used for study and improving your game.

For example, let’s say you play NL50 and in a month you log around 30–50k hands. You recognize all of your main opponents at the tables, but you have very few hands on each of them, because hand histories only accumulate from tables where you actually played together. It’s nearly impossible to gather even 10–30k hands per month on each regular.

Usually, you’ll end up with maybe 500 – and at best a few thousand – hands on any single opponent in a month. So to collect a truly large sample of hands for study, you would have to wait and grind for many, many months. That makes analysis harder, because by the time you have a big sample, your database will include a lot of older hands – and those can mislead you if the player has since changed their ranges or strategy.

But with mining, you can simply buy hand histories for your stake. For instance, you could purchase hands from NL50 for the last 2–3 months and immediately get 100–150k fresh hands on each regular in your games. Analyzing an opponent’s strengths and weaknesses becomes much more accurate and effective with this kind of up-to-date data.

Well, now in Hand2Note 4.1, you can buy mined hand packages directly within the software. The developers of the tracker will be adding new and fresh hands from different poker rooms whenever possible.

At the moment, the selections of hands on offer are quite old or niche, and not very useful for most players: ⦁ Live Poker: December 2013 – November 2024 ⦁ Sky Stakes Cash: December 2021 – June 2024 ⦁ Mobile Apps: May 2022 – June 2024 If you want to learn more about what each package includes and how the mining feature works, you can even check out the Sky Stakes Cash database for free.

For fans of Asian poker apps, the “Mobile Apps” hand pack might be interesting, just to see how the games play out in those applications. It’s a cool new section, but we’re waiting for more relevant and fresher hand history packages for the popular poker rooms of today.

4. Mac OS Version

I’m sure a huge number of players dreamed that one day they’d be able to run Hand2Note on their Apple devices. Well, you’ve waited long enough and now it’s here – Hand2Note for Mac OS has arrived!

Key points about Hand2Note for Mac OS: ⦁ The HUD currently works only in a few rooms — specifically PokerStars, 888, Winamax, and PokerKing. ⦁ Updates for Mac are released later than the Windows version. ⦁ There are minor bugs, but nothing that will make you tear your hair out in frustration.

There tend to be more bugs overall simply because there are fewer users on Mac — so do your part by submitting bug reports, and that will help the developers push out more fixes.

Also note that the Mac OS version of Hand2Note is still in beta testing, which means you can use the software absolutely free for now. Overall, judging by player feedback, there has been truly huge and noticeable progress on the Mac client. It’s likely that very soon the full functionality of Hand2Note 4 will be available on Apple devices as well.

5. Support for More Poker Rooms

The number of poker rooms supported by Hand2Note 4.1 – meaning rooms where the HUD works and from which you can import hand histories – is far greater than in the older version of the tracker.

If you don’t stick to a single poker room and instead hop across multiple sites like a traveling regular, it’s absolutely critical that everything is supported.

Among the most notable additions: ⦁ You’ve probably heard about the issues with hand converters for PokerOK. Now, H2N4 lets you import hands directly after exporting them from PokerCraft. ⦁ They’ve added support for hand histories from GGClub PokerCraft as well. ⦁ Hand histories from BetСlic are now supported (where HUD usage has recently been banned, but you can still import hands for analysis).

If you play in uncommon rooms, Asian mobile apps, or you just love to experiment on various platforms — Hand2Note 4.1 is definitely the tracker for you.

6. Rakeback Calculation

If you’re a cash game player and you receive a steady rakeback percentage from the rake you pay, then this feature is a small but pleasant perk for you.

In Hand2Note 4.1 you can input your poker room and your rakeback percentage, and then your graphs will display your profit including rakeback.

It’s a nice bonus that can make it easier for players to calculate their overall poker earnings (no more manual rakeback math on the side).

Conclusion

Overall, the new Hand2Note 4.1 tracker is not just an update – it’s like trading in a Kia for a Tesla. Yes, the navigation still glitches here and there and a few sensors misbehave, but the experience of using it is on a completely different level.

Therefore, the sooner you start using Hand2Note 4.1, the sooner you’ll get access to all its new features – and gain the additional knowledge and skills on how to use this software to the fullest. Thanks to that, you’ll be able to boost your winrate and stay ahead of the competition.
