Hand2Note is an extended HUD tracker designed for in-depth analysis of opponents. One of its key features is a powerful notes system that allows you to conveniently store information about the behavior of rivals that goes beyond simple statistics, which helps to build an exploitative strategy. Hand2Note is optimized specifically for effective work with notes: you can instantly add the current hand to a note with one click and select preset note templates.

Let's dive into this interesting topic.

Creating and managing notes

As I said before, you can quickly create and edit notes in Hand2Note. Here are the main ways:

  • Adding notes via HUD: by default, in HUD Hand2Note, click on the player's nickname to open a popup window with the "Notes" tab, where you can write your entry. In this window, you can write general notes and insert handouts.

  • Using templates: The program has the ability to pre-configure a list of note templates. This saves time at the table - instead of manually entering, you can simply select a ready-made template (for example, "Overbet Bluffs" for frequent overbet bluffs). After selecting the template, you will only need to edit the text if necessary. The auxiliary template menu speeds up the recording of readings for a variety of tables and similar situations.

  • Through the context menu of the hand: open the replay and right-click on the desired hand in the list of hands, selecting "Add to Note". Hand2Note itself will offer to create a note for the "active" player in the hand. After that, a window will appear for entering the text of the note (see the example). You can add a short comment and save it.

  • Linking to a specific stat: if a player has a lot of notes, it is convenient to organize them by topic, "linking" to statistics. For example, if you have information about the frequency of his contact bets, create a note specifically on the Continuation Bet stat. To do this: hover over the desired stat in the HUD-pop-up and click "Add Note". This approach allows you to quickly find entries related to specific situations (while on the status, you will see notes linked to it).

You also can combine adding current hand and template into notes in 3 actions:

  • Click "Hand and Template;
  • Choose the template;
  • Enjoy.

If you're setting up your HUD yourself, make sure you have a note box. You can add a note icon in the HUD editor (Insert -> Notes Indicator).

Structuring effective notes

When writing notes, it is important to be concise and specific. Avoid uninformative words ("fish", "amateur", etc.) - such marks are unlikely to help in the future. Instead, record specific examples of hands and situations. For example, instead of "reliable player" it is better to write "does not make counter bets without a ready hand" or "often bluffs on the river". Experts recommend writing down exactly the indicative hands played: "weak hand strength" (the worst hand) or "check-bet with a strong hand". Such specifics will then allow us to apply clear counter-strategies.

It is useful to use standardized abbreviations. For example, indicate your opponent's position with English abbreviations: UTG, LJ (Lowjack), HJ (Hijack), CO, BTN, SB, BB. Immediately enter the number of blinds (bb), the amount of bets (3b - 3-bet, cbet - continuation bet), etc. Indicate actions: X (check), C (call), R (raise), X/R (check raise). Such moments allow you to quickly compose and then easily read notes.

Examples of note design

Example: A triple-bets player with a draw, but always discards on the turn. Specify in the note: "Turn Overfold, always fold draws".

Example: An opponent rarely 3-bets and almost always has the strongest hand. Make a note: "Nit: 3B AA/KK only". The note reminds you that with a 4-bet with a bluff, he is unlikely to call.

Example: A player plays aggressively, puts a lot and often on the flop. Write down: "C-bets 80". The note will indicate the possibility of a check-raise in response to his frequent aggressive play.

Note Settings in Hand2Note 4.1

Hand2Note allows you not only to write notes, but also to customize their visual display - fonts, colors, background and note indicator in the HUD. These settings are located in the Configuration → Notes menu.

Where to find and how to change (steps)
Open Hand2Note ->In the left menu, select Configuration, then Notes.
On the right side of the window you will see the options:

  • Notes font size - the font size of the note.
  • Notes font color - the color of the text of the note.
  • Date font size - the font size of the date/timestamp.
  • Date font color - the color of the date/time.
  • Background - the background of the note block.

Stat note indicator color - the color of the note indicator in the HUD/stat.
After the change, see the Preview block - it shows how the notes will look in the popup/HUD.
If something went wrong, click Reset to default at the top to return to the default settings.

Tips and tricks

Link notes to stats: If a player has a lot of notes (10+), organizing by stats will simplify your life. When there is information specifically about the counter-bet, link the note to the Continuation Bet, about the 3-bet to the 3-Bet, etc. Then, in a specific situation, it is enough to point at the stat to find the desired entry.

Templates: Create your own templates. For example, you can create a template with frequently used phrases. This will speed up typing and standardize the format.

Combine your templates with general statistics: record deviations from the field of players. Hand2Note allows you to analyze field trends (Range Research). If your note says "often bluffs", check if this is not the norm relative to the general tendencies of the players.
Avoid cluttering: keep notes relevant and concise. Delete outdated entries (check after 2-3 trial sessions if the pattern continues) and combine the same items. Don't turn the note into a novel - the goal is to briefly remind yourself of the key.

Conclusion

Notes are a tool that enhances your statistical data. They add a human element and strategic understanding to HUD's numbers. Properly structured Hand2Note notes allow professional and ambitious players to exploit their opponents' weaknesses more effectively and make informed decisions at the most critical moments of the game.
