18 Jul 2025 Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi has always been outstanding poker player, but what he did at the final table of the 2025 WSOP Main Event might be the most famous poker action ever. “I’ll Finish It in an Hour” Mizrachi was very sure of himself going into the final match. On Day 7, he said, "If I get chips, there's going to be trouble." And boy, was it difficult for everyone else. The first day of the final table was fast-paced. In just five hours, the number of players dropped from nine to four. What about Day 2? That was something different. On the one hand, Mizrachi beat Kenny Hallaert, a seasoned player. Hallaert had the best hand with , but Mizrachi had , and luck was on his side. After the flop, the board showed . Mizrachi had a pair on the turn, which was the day's first elimination. What about the next hand? Another elimination. Braxton Dunaway went all-in with after Mizrachi pushed all-in from the small blind with . Dunaway made a daring call with a small stack, but the flop showed , giving Mizrachi two pairs and a firm hold on the hand. Only a black six could help Dunaway win, but the turn and river did not improve his hand. John Wasnock's $3 Million Sit-Down The tension was through the roof when action resumed with only three players left. For John Wasnock, a casual poker player living every poker fan's dream, things were both scary and exciting simultaneously. At that point, he had only played two hands, folded both, and locked up $3 million. That's good for an hourly rate. Mizrachi was on the verge of making history. It wasn't just his first Main Event title that he was after. He was able to become the first player to win both the PPC and the Main Event. He had already won the $50,000 Poker Players Championship four times. Professional poker players, like Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth, said that run would automatically get him into the Poker Hall of Fame. The Hand That Ended It All The heads-up battle between Mizrachi and Wasnock had some back-and-forth moments, but it never felt like Mizrachi was going to lose. The game was over when the final hand came down. Wasnock raised the pot with , while Mizrachi defended his big blind position with . The flop read , which gave Wasnock top two pair and Mizrachi a flush draw. And the action went check-check. The landed on the turn, and Mizrachi hit his flush. Here come the fireworks. Wasnock bet 10 million. Mizrachi then pointed to his rail and told them to make noise. He raised. Wasnock shoved. Mizrachi called quickly and started to celebrate, yelling "Let's f*****g go!" and throwing his hat in the air. It wasn't, though. He heard someone whisper in his ear. Mizrachi didn't know that Wasnock still had outs. “Oh s**t. Ace or nine? I didn’t see that.” There were 153 million chips in the pot. The deal would be turned over if an or showed up on the river. The dealer, however, put down the on the river. It was finally over. Mizrachi posted on X after his main event victory: I want to thank all my family, friends, fans and all the staff @WSOP. This is the biggest accomplishment of my career. I wouldn’t be able to do it without all of you. Love you all so much and G-D Bless. #TeamMizrachi #WSOP pic.twitter.com/LP5BSXkA64 — Michael Mizrachi - The Grinder (@TheGrinder44) July 18, 2025 2025 Main Event Final Table results Rank Player Country Winnings (in USD) 1 Michael Mizrachi United States $10,000,000 2 John Wasnock United States $6,000,000 3 Braxton Dunaway United States $4,000,000 4 Kenny Hallaert Belgium $3,000,000 5 Luka Bojovic Serbia $2,400,000 6 Adam Hendrix United States $1,900,000 7 Leo Margets Spain $1,500,000 8 Jarod Minghini United States $1,250,000 9 Daehyung Lee South Korea $1,000,000 Poker History Made Mizrachi was the first person in poker history to win both the WSOP Main Event and the $50,000 Poker Players Championship in the same year.
