What Are Aliases and Why Use Them?

Today, we’ll talk about Aliases in Hand2Note and why they are important for professional poker players.  

Aliases is a tool that allows you to combine static data from different players or accounts into one group. This helps you get a larger sample size and for more accurate and in-depth game analysis.  

Let’s look at when and why you should group players into Aliases.  

1. Combining Statistics for a Larger Sample Size on a Single Player  

If a player changes nicknames or plays from multiple accounts, the individual stats for each account may vary. By merging this data into one Alias, you get a more complete picture of their playing style and behavior at the tables.  

When to Use:  

• Useful in apps or poker rooms where players can change nicknames. However, you must be sure that two opponents are actually the same person.  
• To display combined stats in the HUD, enable the "Is Single Person" option in the Alias editor.  
• If you play in different poker rooms, you can merge your own data to analyze your overall performance.  

2. Analyzing Groups of Players with Similar Traits  

Aliases let you group players based on specific characteristics, such as:  

• Playing style (tight, loose, aggressive, etc.)  
• Players from the same training group ("stables") to track trends  
• Bots to detect and combat them  

When to Use:  

• By analyzing a group of players with similar styles, you can spot their weaknesses and adjust your strategy to exploit them.  
• Poker stables and coaches can track their students’ trends, see where they deviate from the taught strategy, and make corrections if needed.  
• Fighting bots: Hand2Note is a perfect tool for this. Bots follow fixed strategies unless their code is changed. How to Create and Set Up Aliases

To Create an Alias:  

1. Go to Configuration.  
2. Open the "Aliases" tab.  
3. Click "New Alias".  

In the "Add Alias" window:  

1. Enter a name (in English).  
2. Search for the player(s) you want to add.  
3. Click the "+" button to add them to the Alias.  

Repeat for all players you want to include into Alias.  

1. Check that the players appear in the Alias list.  
2. To display combined stats in the HUD, toggle the switch ON.  
3. Click "OK".  

Editing an Alias:  

1. Go to Configuration.  
2. Open the "Aliases" tab.  
3. Click the Edit icon next to the Alias.  

How to Use Aliases  

You can select your Aliases in the Reports, Statistics, and Sessions tabs, just like choosing a single player.  

 In the Reports Tab:  

1. Go to Reports.  
2. Click the player nickname field.  
3. Select the Alias from the list.  

 In the Statistics Tab:  

1. Go to Statistics.  
2. Click the player nickname field.  
3. Select the Alias from the list.  

 In the Sessions Tab:  

1. Go to Sessions.  
2. Click the player nickname field.  
3. Select the Alias from the list.
